Global IPA shortages and heightened demand have prompted suppliers to announce additional March increases. ExxonMobil and Dow both announced 5 cts/lb hikes for March 20th. These increases are in addition to the recent 5 cts/lb initiatives the producers announced for March 15th and March 15th respectively.
Other sources report that most producers have announced allocation measures for IPA. Spot supply is very snug and some customers have reported a 100% increase in offers from early March (with trucks quoted in the upper 80 to low 90 cts/lb delivered USMW and USG).
Matrix Chemical announced a 5 cts/lb acetone increase effective April 1st. It attributed constrained domestic supply and scarce imports as the factor behind the initiative.
