Shell Chemical letter sent to customers on September 29th: “During the planned turnaround activities at Scotford, extensive and unanticipated damage to a pair of reactors at the MEG plant was discovered. We are currently assessing a repair plan and associated schedule to return the unit to service. The unexpected repairs will prevent SCC from restarting the MEG plant as planned and accordingly constitute an event of Force Majeure that will impact our ability to perform under our agreement regarding the sale and delivery of Glycols (MEG, DEG, TEG). We will advise when the MEG plant can be safely restarted and consequently the Force Majeure event ends.”
