In a letter to customers dated January 11th NanYa confirmed declaring force majeure on all glycols produced at Point Comfort as of that date. Ethylene supply was cut on December 19th of last year leading to the immediate shutdown of EG1 and a rate reduction at EG2 (the new unit), however EG2 was taken down on January 4th after the company failed to secure spot ethylene needed to continue operating. There was no indication as to when it might be able to resume operations.
